About

I’m Jess – a creative consultant, facilitator, and access specialist with over a decade of experience working across some of the most complex and rewarding environments out there. My career has never followed a straight line, and that’s exactly what makes my skills useful.

I started in theatre as a playwright and actor, where I learned that the fundamentals of good communication are presence, authenticity, and knowing your audience. Those core values have underpinned everything I’ve done since.

From there I diversified into education, teaching English Literature in a Pupil Referral Unit: a truly transformative experience. If you want to learn how to hold a room, reach people who have every reason not to engage, and communicate under pressure, there really is no better training ground. Working in the PRU taught me that connection is always possible, but it rarely happens by accident. It takes strategy and care.

Alongside teaching I worked extensively in libraries – running creative programmes, collaborating with youth workers, and building relationships with communities that other services often struggled to reach. That experience deepened through my work as an access consultant. Drawing on my lived experience as a wheelchair user, I’ve helped organisations make their spaces genuinely inclusive, physically and linguistically – from practical logistics to getting the language right around disability, gender, and identity.

What connects all of it is a simple belief: that reaching people takes creativity, experience, and a willingness to do the unglamorous work of understanding where they actually are. That’s what I bring to every project, whether I'm designing a community engagement programme for a local authority, facilitating a strategy day for a corporate team, or helping an organisation rethink how it communicates with the people it serves.
